Germany Pimps it's unemployed.

Now that prostitution is legal in Germany, if a woman turns down a prostitution job, she loses her unemployment benefits.

Telegraph | News | 'If you don't take a job as a prostitute, we can stop your benefits'

"Now that prostitution is no longer considered by the law to be immoral, there is really nothing but the goodwill of the job centres to stop them from pushing women into jobs they don't want to do."

The problem as I see it is that when the goverment removes the sanction of something becoming immoral, is magically becomes moral. This woman is being treated like she is an unemployment fraud case because she is not willing to participate in a "moral" profession.

Bloggers are good at asking questions

The Obsidian Order: A Very Special Effect

I wonder if Al Queda has a journalism school??

It is their country now

Those Blue Iraqi thumbs are a pretty beautiful sight.

The Iraqi's apparently love democracy as much as we do. They had at least the proportion of their population vote then we do here in America. And we didn't have anyone shooting at us or blowing us up.

It is now their country. They earned it with their courage. More courage will be needed to clean up the mess over there. Now that Iraqis can fight for Iraqi government appointed by Iraqi ballots, I suspect that the terrorists better turn tail and run. Iraq is taking their country back.

To all of those pessimists here in the US who said that democracy wouldn't work over there, you should repent. Your racism is being exposed for what it really is.

Your money or your Wife?

CNN.com - Man begs wife's forgiveness in $17,000 ad - Jan 26, 2005

It is nice to see that somebody still understands the value of marriage. So many people give up so easily these days. It is nice to see that somebody is willing to sacrifice to try to make it work.

Fired for Smoking

WRAL.com - News - Company Fires All Employees Who Smoke

This may not be a bad idea. I don't think it is a good idea to fire your employees for smoking at home, but I do think it is reasonable to make them pay for their own health insurance.

I think that if you choose to do something detrimintal to yourself, you shouldn't expect everyone else to pay the bill to fix you up.

Conflict is good. (Sometimes)

I wonder how many people are going to read this article and be reminded of Paul and Barnabas

Flame Wars, Forks and Freedom - OSNews.com

In the news media, it is generally shown that flame wars and forks are detrimental to the growth of FOSS (Free/Open Source Software) But if we see the history of FOSS, both flame wars and forks have played a crucial role in determining both growth and direction of important projects. There are also arguments that this leads to fragmentation and marginalization. There is some truth in these arguments but there are a lot of benefits which are often overlooked.

Rolling stone changes it's tune

USATODAY.com - 'Rolling Stone' reverses, will accept Bible ad

"We have addressed the internal miscommunications that led to the previous misstatement of company policy and apologize for any confusion it may have caused," Lisa Dallos, spokeswoman for Wenner Media, Rolling Stone's parent company, said Monday. She declined to elaborate.

Interesting that they have a spokeswoman issue the apology, when they had a General Manager articulate the rejection. They are doing the right thing though, so I won't give them too much flack.

Rolling stone doesn't want Zondervan's money

USATODAY.com - Ad for a Bible doesn't fit

Zondervan executives say the entertainment magazine was key in its $1 million campaign to reach young adults who have rarely, if ever, seen Bible ads before. Surveys show that 53% of this age group read the Bible less than once a year or never, although they are huge buyers of books on spiritual and religious themes.

mysteries of the net

I have been playing with Wordpress as a replacement for Moveable type. I did a practice migration a few weeks ago, but never told anyone anywhere where I saved the wordpress website on my server. I never published anything from that website, so I don't think any of the techicari type websites would have recieved pings or anything...

Today, I began getting comment spam on my wordpress installation. How did they find it??? Very strange...

The nice thing about this installation is all comments must be approved by me.. So the spammers efforts are pretty futile, but it is still annoying.

Electronic engineer.

Nathan, my 1 1/2 year old seems to have a prettty technical mind..

I wonder if it is normal that a kid learns the words "on" and "off" before "Yes" and "no"? I wonder if he is ready to learn to count in Binary?

Aim Low!

My P.E. teachers used to get really mad at me because I would try to implement stratagies like this:

Times Argus

Game score: 5-2.

Yes, 5-2. Yes, basketball.

"I've never had a player hit a game-winner in the second quarter before," BFA-Fairfax coach Glen Button Jr. said after the Wednesday night game.

"It was the ultimate deliberate stalemate," Milton coach Jim Smith said. "They didn't come out after us and we didn't go in against them."

Federal Judge Establishes Religion.

Yahoo! News - Ga. Evolution Stickers Ordered Removed

These Stickers said absolutely nothing about Religion. They stated a simple fact. Evolution is theory not fact. The schools should have academic freedom to teach that science is a work in progress, and that we don't know everything.

The way I see it, this Judge is calling the doubt expressed Heresy, and is establishing Evolutionary theory as a unquestionable creator.

Paleontologists can be wrong

Yahoo! News - Fossil Is Proof of Mammal Eating Dinosaur

Originally, scientists believed that mammals remained small because larger dinosaurs were hunting them. Only after dinosaurs went extinct by 65 million years ago did surviving mammals begin to grow larger, they reasoned.

Now, the discovery of larger mammals is reversing some of the speculation. The Liaoning region already is famous for its trove of small feathered dinosaurs and early birds.

Science is theory. It is worthy of study, but It is not worthy of worship.

Talented Brat

Jeffri Chadiha writes about Mike Tice's apparent fear of disciplining Randy Moss.

Yahoo! Sports

Besides, what would be the cost if Tice upset Moss by actually disciplining him? As talented as he is, it's not like the team has won anything with him. This is Minnesota's first trip to the postseason since 2000 and a wildcard win over an overrated Green Bay team isn't any reason to think the Vikes suddenly turned things around. They're still an erratic team, one that could easily get embarrassed in Philadelphia this weekend. In fact, there are only two things that I can guarantee with the Vikings. One is that Moss will always be a pain. The other is that Tice will one day regret his decision to coddle Moss for as long as he has.

I don't think that any team works too well when it is busy pampering a spoiled rotten brat. If I where the Vikings GM, I would have traded this guy years ago.. It is impressive to see how much teams throughout sports often improve after eliminating the player that the team has been revolving around.

Yahoo! News - Girl Caught in Red Tape Over Tsunami Aid

All 10-year-old Carolyn Lipsick wanted to do was help kids hurt by the tsunami, because, she says, "you can't just think of yourself, you have to think of other people."

When her mom called the city of Miami Beach to find out what to do about getting a license, the answer wasn't promising: There is a roadside-vendor ban in Miami Beach.
